Chevrolet Repair: 2004 Chevy Impala Dash Leaks., moving to british columbia, chevy impala

Question
Hey Mark, I saw you give what seems to be the answer to this question to an other guy saying that if he located the "90 degree nipple" on the firewall behind the alternator and pull it out and clean it it will fix this problem. Well, I can't seem to find this said "nipple."

I have the 2004 very base model impala and it's leaking water into the passenger side floor and it's building up in a puddle. It appears to be coming out of the air conditioning motor or somthing of that sort in the dash. I'm not sure how it's getting in there, but it only comes out into the car on a heavy rain fall. I never had this problem before, but since moving to British Columbia all this rain is finding it's way into my car.

Any way to clarify what you were saying to the other person to me? Also if you could just explain what's happening, so I can maybe understand how it's getting in.

Thanks a lot Mark!

Answer
Hi Cory, You have a different problem here but you can fix it in 30 or so minutes. you need to remove the air inlet grille on the passenger side of the windshield. You may need to remove the passenger wiper arm but I'm not sure. After you get this up and can see under it there is a shield that keeps water from running down the windshield and into the blower motor. You should see this and understand what I'm talking about. You need to put a bead of sealer under this piece and the windshield to stop the water from going past the shield. I have also seen where the shield just isn't attached to the car at all and is doing nothing. I hope this helps and please let me know what happens.
