Chevrolet Repair: QUESTION ABOUT INTERIOR LIGHTS, fuse block, fuse blocks

Question
I JUST BOUGHT A 1994 CHEVY G-20 VAN  V6.  I PLUGGED  A CONVERTER IN THE CIGARET LIGHTER.  THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WENT OUT.  I THINK IT MAY BE THE FUSE THAT BLEW.  I SEE WHERE THE FUSES ARE BUT NOT SURE WITCH ONE TO CHANGE.  CAN YOU HELP ME.

Answer
Your owners manual has a picture of the fuse block, and which fuse it would be.

You can also use a 12 volt test light. Connect the clip to ground, and then touch the probe tip to the fuse ends.
Those push in fuses have tiny metal test tabs in the side facing you. Touch the probe to the tab on one end, and then to the tab on the other end.
If the light only lights on one end, that fuse is blown.

The sig lighter may need the ignition switch on in order to have power.

You can also just pull the fuses out one at a time, and look at them. It is unusual for a fuse to be blown and you not being able to see that its blown if you look through the side.

And some fuse blocks are actually marked, or the cover has a sticker saying what each fuse is for.
