Chevrolet Repair: windshield wipers, windshield wipers, motor shaft

Question
i have a 2000 chev. venture.  when i turn off my windshield wipers, they stop at the vertical position.  is there something in the wiper motor/module that i can adjust?

Answer
Hi Carol,

I am unsure if you have recently put on a new wiper motor.  I also am unsure if your wipers stop in the same place every time...but are vertical, or if they stop just anywhere once the switch is off.

If they stop vertical but the same place, you may have the motor mounted 180 degrees off on the wiper bracket.

If they stop just anywhere, you most likely need a new motor.  The system inside that tells the wipers to 'land' has stopped working.

There is no adjustment, to my knowledge.  The bracket attached to the wipers, mounts to the wiper motor shaft by aligning corresponding flat spots.  If you have multiple flat spots, and have just mounted a new motor, you possibly got the bracket in the wrong spot.

Hope this helps.
