Answer
Hello Bret,
I have bumped into that problem, and removing the control module, and reconnecting it seems to correct it for a while.
I tried cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser, which often works better than a chemical cleaner.
Removing the module was really fairly easy, and not too time consuming.
Eventually, after several months, the cleaning didn't cure the symptoms, but a replacement module corrected it for the remainder of time I posessed the vehicle, which was a few more years.

I would recommend trying the cleaning.

The cost of the module was not overly expensive at all. Seems like it was about $45.00, but I'm not positive.
