Chevrolet Repair: Blazer Cam Sensor, upper radiator hose, cam sensor

Question
2000 Blazer 4.3L. Could a bad Eng 1 fuse cause the cam positioning sensor to overheat and fail? I ask because i replaced the cam sensor before finding the bad Eng 1 fuse and the new cam sensor overheated and failed. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Andrew, I have never seen a cam sensor fail or overheat. The fuse can not cause this to happen, it only supplies 12 volts to the vcm. I have seen a spot where the harness will rub through and cause the fuse to blow. It is where the bracket for the upper radiator hose and the engine harness come near each other. Look very carefully and you will find where the point/corner of the bracket will find it's way into the harness.

I hope this helps
