Chevrolet Repair: Chevy 350 dies when shifting from park, air control valve, throttle positioning sensor

Question
Mr. Adams
I have a 1995 with the 350 throttle body, and mostly when she's cold she'll die when you shift from park to drive.  and if you shift really slow you can see the rpm's drop almost to 0.  Sometimes it will even die while driving, sometimes it will even start right back up if you get on the gas quick enough.  I recently changed the EGR valve and the fuel pump, due to other issues, and this problem has my dad, my college automotive instricter, and myself baffled.  Can you help us?  thank you for any help you can provide.
Chad

Answer
Is the check engine light on? If yes, what are the codes?
Take the readings from your idle air control valve or the throttle positioning sensor using an ohm meter and compare them to the readings that should be available at your college on computer.
