Chevrolet Repair: signal lights, turn signal flasher, signal switch

i have a 1997 chev malibou my signals stop working all the time. the bulbs have been changed and the four ways still work. we think it is a sensor heating up but are ub\nable to locate it. can u please help or tell me if there is a recall on the signal switch

The four ways use a separate flasher than the signals.
I think you need a turn signal flasher.
It chould be located in a little clip under the bottom edge of the dash, about in front of the drivers right knee. possible the clip could be attached to the steering column.

Get down there and listen if it will flash a few times before quitting, and you should be able to track it down.
