Chevrolet Repair: 87 K5 Blazer, battery cable, warning lights

Question
I drive an 87 K5 Blazer and currently, when I try start it, nothing happens.  No turn over, no click, nothing.  The headlights work, but the warning lights don't (and I don't think the brake lights do either).  If I tap the starter with a hammer, I can get it to start, but the truck won't go far before it turns back off.

Is it a ground problem?  If so, what do I look for?

Someone asked a similar question (though they had some different problems as well) and I think it was said it was the solenoid?  What and where is that?

Answer
Hello Alan,
The solenoid is on the starter, and that is where the battery cable connects. Make sure that wire is tight.

Also, make sure there is a good ground wire from the engine block to the firewall. probably from the right rear of the intake manifold.
