Chevrolet Repair: Chevy s10 1997 v6, chevy s10, alternator

Question
My 1997 Chevy s10 died on the road, it only has 38,000 miles on it. Mechanic said new alternator and charged battery but got nothing, not even one light on the truck. It was just dead. He was able to start it up an move it, but it dies again. Thinks there is a short in a wire. Does not have the diagram for starting wiring to trace the wires. Where can I get a free copy of this wiring so he can fix my truck?

Answer
Hi B,
You can make a copy of the wiring diagram, or any part of the service manual at the public library, refference section, but I think you just have a loose or dirty connection.
The ground wire from the engine to the firewall is very important, so make sure it, or a replacement for it is in place.
