Chevrolet Repair: Transmission Swap, camaro z28, clutch forks

Question
I have a 1986 Camaro Z28 with the T5 transmission.  I busted my last tranmission and bought what is supposed to be a rebuilt one.  The transmission went through all of the gears, and the input shaft and output shaft spun freely.  I installed a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing.  Well, I got it all hooked up and the tranmission when you put into any gear will not pull.  Could I have messed my slave cylinder up?  What are all of the possibilities?  I know that the slave cylinder is not letting the shifting fork come all the way up to the front of the hole in the bell housing, but does the shifting fork have to come up that far for the transmission to pull.  The tranny is not making any noise or anything when I press down the clutch or let off of it.  Please help me.

Answer
Hi Jimmy,
The slave cylinder does need to completely release pressure on the clutch forks.
On some new clutches, there are little blocks holding the release fingers depressed, till you remove them. Did yours, and was that done?
I might be tempted to remove the slave cylinder to see if it is holding the clutch disengaged.
