BMW Repair: Need your thoughts, interior climate, 1996 bmw 328

I own a 1996 BMW 328 with over 200K miles on it. Since I've owned this vehicle (over 4 years now), every now and again the interior climate control and clock flicker briefly from time to time. Recently, the information panel automatically comes on and provided information (how many mpg's or washer fluid low) without being depressed, and when I depress the "check" button, it says all systems are okay.The washer fluid is fine. Now, the check engine light has come on. I took to the mechanic a few weeks ago and the repair a vacumn seal, but now the check engine is back. I think the internal computer is about to give way. What's your thoughts and whats the approximate cost to repair? Thanks

Sounds like you have several problems.
The check engine light doesnt have any connection to the dash problem(s).That will need to be repaired on its own.
The dash will need to be traced down but the climate control head units are known for internal connection problms with age.
