Chevrolet Repair: No compression, chevy cavalier, compression gauge

Question
This all started when my daughter was driving her car and she said it made alot of noise and quit running.Had car towed home found timing chain tensioner in a million pieces in oil pan. Replaced tensioner and checked gears and chain.Tried to start just cranks.Put compression gauge on, all cylinders show zero. I took the valve cover off and when the crank and cam marks are aligned the #4 cylinder is at TDC.Can you give me Some idea of what might be going on.Chevy Cavalier 2.2L OHV !91,000mi 1996. Thanks

Answer
I hate to say but the engine is probably destroyed, when the timing chain or tensioner breaks, there is nothing to keep the engine in time, this is when pistons and valves will collide with each other causing SEVERE engine damage, the fact you are showing no compression confirms this. If you are lucky however try realigning the timing marks, you may be 180 degrees out, good luck
