Chevrolet Repair: hood cable release, full size chevy, chevy truck

Question
I have a 1985 full size chevy truck, the hood release cable is either broken or loose and won't release hood, can you tell me how to approach this issue ?

Not an easy thing to do especially if you have never done it, but you will need to look through the grill up towards the latch area and back to see if you can see the cable. you will then need to grab it with something and pull the cable until the hood pops open, again it sounds easier than it is but being this vehicle is an 85 model it will be much easier than something new, good luck
