Chevrolet Repair: 01 cavalier loud and runs hot, hot 2001, loud noise

2001 cavalier 2200 sfi engine.loud noise(as if something is is hitting cover.does while driving and at idle(but runs great)also after running for awhile and then stopping it will start overheating at idle until you drive again and then it cools down.btw it has 110000 miles which my be the life for this model but it runs grat while driving,just loud.
noise seems to be coming from passenger end of cover.any possible diag's

Probably a worn and stretched timing belt slapping the cover, I would have that looked into ASAP as you do NOT want it to break, as for the overheating when idling, sounds like your electric fan is not working, let the car idle and check to see if the fan works, if not replace the fan relay and or the fan itself, hope this helps, also a good idea to check the fuses
