Chevrolet Repair: 94 S10 4.3L V6 Vortex, coil pack, gas tank

Question
We just bought this truck, drove for three days and it ran fine. I came out of the store one day and the motor would not turn over. They replaced the ignition module, coil pack and the rotor. The rotor was obviously burnt. Thought for sure this was the problem and it still would not turn over. We discovered that we weren't hearing the fuel pump so...we placed the fuel pump. It started right up but with a bad miss. So, we replaced the plugs and wires. Also discovered that the wrong plugs were in the truck but it was running fine before. Anyway, after replacing the plugs and wires it still has a bad miss. So bad that we haven't moved it for fear that it will leave us sitting again. We can't understand how all of this is related, but desperately need to fix the problem. Any advice or help? Not even sure it can make it to a computer to get a code. Please help. Also, this happened after filling the gas tank, if that matters.

Answer
Hello Alice,
All that ignition stuff you replaced, just may have been fine.
I don't know what might have been pumped into that fuel tank, but I hope you drained it all out.
If it ruined a fuel pump, the filter may also be plugged. I would replace it, and check the pressure.
Also, did you make sure you got the correct pump for your engine? Vortek should require more pressure than an older model injection system.

And just for clarification later, most mechanics refer to turning over as the act of rotating the crankshaft with the starter, also sometimes called cranking over, as opposed to firing. Sounds like yours is actually turning over. It just isn't firing, correct?

And a lot of fuel related problems will not even set a code.
