Chevrolet Repair: Student needs help with stuck fuel filter, air hammer, metal fuel

Question
I have a 4-cyl 98 Malibu, and I took off my fuel filter today, I got the inlet part off with the clip (the side that is the hardest apparently) but the side that screws on to the metal fuel line WILL NOT budge a single inch (and it's been changed before).  Do I need something special to get it off of there?  To make sure, lying under the car, it's the drivers side of the connection on the fuel filter.

I'd really appreciate any help!

Answer
Hi Martin, Sorry this response has taken so long. This is a common problem with fuel filters in the salt belt. I use a air hammer to spread the fitting on the filter. You won't be able to do this though. I'm thinking you just cut the line and buy a short piece of line to repair it. They do sell repair line for this end of the gas line.

Hope this helps
