Chevrolet Repair: 93 blazer, intake manifold gasket, coolant recovery

Question
Hi Van, I am very happy to find this site. I have a 93 chevy tahoe blazer.I have alot of white smoke coming out of the tail pipe. not sure what it may be. Could you help me out. After about 15min of driven it goes away.

Answer
Hello Ed,
The catalytic converter creates a lot of condensation inside the exhaust system, and when it is cold outside, that stuff creates a lot of steam till it is gone.
Now, if this is something that just started, it could be the intake valve guide seals leaking oil into the cylinders. If so, you should notice an increase in oil consumption.
If there is a sour smell to the smoke, see if you are loosing any coolant. Actually check inside the radiator when it is cool, not just the coolant recovery tank. You could have an intake manifold gasket starting to leak. For information about that, Google search Dexcool.
