Chevrolet Repair: 1988 Corsica 2.0LT Speedometer & odometer failure, gauge cluster, scan tool

Both speedometer and odometer failed or swinged intermittently. Is the problem from VSS or gauge cluster?

Hello Jacob, When both the odometer and the speedometer are inop it is either the complete cluster or the wiring from the ECM (computer)or the EMC itself. If you had a scan tool you could watch the VSS sensor to see the output from it. Most times when the VSS goes bad it will also set a code in the ECM and the check engine light will come on. I'll bet on the cluster that is the bad part.
