Question I am the original owner of a 1997 Blazer 4 door, 4WD with 48,000 miles. It is in great shape and had no accidents. The local dealer performs all the scheduled maintenance. For the last year I have an anomaly that we can’t figure out. Twice week or so, when first starting out with a cold engine, the vehicle might get half a block or a mile or so and just quit. The airbag light will start flashing along with, at times the anti-lock brake light. The check engine light never comes on. After decelerating for about 5 seconds, the engine will start up on its own and run fine. Today on the way to work, this happened twice. It never happens when the engine is warm or when driving at high speed.
The dealer has plugged it in twice and found no codes. The dealer cleaned the injectors and chnaged the fuel filter but it changed nothing. Rather than another $80 computer fee, I thought I should get a second opinion.

Here is the first suggestion in the engine control forum.
Tricky one but I have a strong hunch you will find a bad ground and that this ground will be shared between several systems, ABS, Airbag and engine. What you need is a service manual and carefully look for shared ground points.
The GM service manual is costly but if he intends to keep the Blazer it will probably pay for itself pretty quick:
