Chevrolet Repair: vibration, 1968 camaro, edlbrock

"1968 Camaro 327 s/b, 4 speed. The engine was just rebuilt. There has ALWAYS been a vibration in the engine. I thought that after the engine was rebuilt that the vibration would quit, it didn't. The vibration is in the engine. Everything is torqued properly. Vibrates both when either standing still, or while driving, and even with the clutch engaged. The motor mounts are new and tight. The transmission mounts are tight. The exhust is tight. The tires are in good shape and balanced. The front end is in excellent shape, and everything is tightened properly. There is a hi per. carb, and edlbrock with msd distrib. When I got the car, there was the "8" inch harmonic balancer on it, so I put a brand new "8" in. one back on. BUT... when I went to but the new one, the auto parts store listing kept coming up with the smaller one. Should I put the smaller one on, and if I do, would that hurt anything, if is NOT the right one for the car? It is pressed on, there is no nut and bolt. Also, could it be the flywheel out of balance?

Hi Greg, Well now.....If I had a engine rebuilt it would also get balanced!!  I'm not sure on the size of the balancer but I know it has no bolt. You could try the smaller one to see if it stops the vib problem or call the machine shop that did the work..
