Chevrolet Repair: not start, no sound & no lights, chevy lumina, theft deterrent system

Question
just replaced battery & starter on 97 Chevy Lumina 4dr sedan with V6.  now won't start, no lights and no sound (no click, grind, etc).  suspect fuse?  or some other electric problem.  car has 120,000 miles.  thanks.

Answer
Check the FUSIBLE LINKS which are small 4" rubber coated very flexible wires that attach along with the battery cable at the starter and run upwards into the black plastic ribbed wire loom that protects all the wires coming off the starter.

Peel back the loom and locate these fusible link wires and test both ends of these rubber covered wires to make sure you have battery voltage flowing thru each of these wires using a standard 12 volt test light.

IF your vehicle has a THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM in it, Follow the procedures in your owners manual to reset the system.
