Chevrolet Repair: fuel injection problem, pink wire, chevy c20

"I have a chevy 6.2 liter diesel 3/4 ton van manufactured in 1982 that we cannot get the fuel pump bled out. We have fuel at the filter (and have even bypassed the filter) but cannot get fuel to the injectors. is there a step we are missing? We also need to know the wiring to the pump.Its a chevy c20 model #cg21305 vin # 2gce625cs(or 5)d4 120224";

Hi Ed,
You may need to crack a couple injector lines loose to get the air out of them. Shouldn't need to do more than a few.
The pink wire to the top of the injector pump needs to have battery voltage with key in run, AND with key in start. That is the shutoff solenoid. If it isn't working, no fuel to the injectors.

There is a return line from the top front of the injector pump that connects to a fitting screwed into the injector pump housing. That fitting has a little check ball inside it. It needs to not be plugged up. They will do that now and then. But that is just a little extra info. That check valve won't contribute to not being able to bleed the pump.
