Chevrolet Repair: CATALATIC CONVERTER, chevy blazer, hello john

I HAVE A '97 CHEVY BLAZER AND HAVE A STOPPED UP CATALATIC CONVERTER DO I HAVE TO REPLACE THIS OR CAN I HAVE IT CUT OFF AND REPLACED WITH AN EXHAUST PIPE EXTENSION?

Hello John,
According to the law, a commercial mechanic is subject to a large fine for removing a converter....but in a lot of states, there is nothing to keep the owner from doing it himself. Some states, like California, I believe even the owner can be fined.
Best bet is to correct the problem that caused yours to plug up, then replace it with a good used one, or an aftermarket new one.
