Chevrolet Repair: 86 chevy 350, chevy 350, ground cable

Question
ground cable fixed it and we are running the coldest plugs available for this motor and we are not running any timing advance because your are not supposed to on a race engine.

Answer
Well, Every engine needs an advance curve of some sort!! What/how do you consider this a "racing" engine? As I run 11-1 compression, long dur. cam, headers and what-not, and still run a full advance, both mechanical, and vacuum, system on them. Without any advance system the cylinders will run very hot, causing exactly what you are experiencing! Even Top Fuel, Pro Stock, and Stock Car/NASCAR engines have an advance "curve"!!
