Chevrolet Repair: 1988 Corvette will not idle steady, electronic control panel, heated mirror

Question
I have a friends 1988 Corvette that I have been working on for him while he is in Iraq. I have two questions on it.
1) I can not get it to idle steady. Every time I think I have it I shut it off and restart it and it does something different. It has a new TPI that I have been trying to adjust because when I read the computer it gave me three codes. 1) being the TPI is too low, 2) The MAF/ Map is too high, and 3) 36 Transmission shift fault.
The engine light is still on. This car vin is 8. I need help to know if I should replace the MAF or what could be causing it to idle the way it does.
Second question: What controls the heater/ AC vent flap to open and close? The one is this car is lose and it causes the AC to just blow real hot air even though everything on the AC is still cold. I rigged the flap closed and the AC works great but I want to know without taking the entire heater assembly apart what makes the flap open and close. (this car has a electronic control panel with heated mirror built in)
Help me get this vehicle fixed so my friend can come home to a smooth running car.

Answer
you always start your repairs with the lowest number code, such as if you got 3 codes, say for example:

22
44
57

you would start your repair with the lowest number, being 22 and once you get this fixed and clear the other codes from the computer, restart the car and see what code or codes reappear and again start with the lowest #.
