Chevrolet Repair: 1994 chevy s10 blazer 4x4, V6 4.3L Vortex eng., chevy s10 blazer, s10 blazer 4x4

Question
I have a '94 chevy s10 blazer in which the engine seems to not want to crank over. The battery has a good charge. I hear the starter engaging, but it either won't turn the engine or will turn it slowly a couple of times and stop. What are the possible problems? The truck has 198,000 miles also. The ignition coil is new and the starter was replaced approx. 2 years ago.

Answer
In most cases the cause is either:

1. A faulty cell in the battery.

2. Internally corroded battery cables.

3. A faulty starter.

If you drive the vehicle into any larger auto parts store thay will test your battery, alternator and starter for FREE.

Most chevy starters have SHIMS that MUST be installed between the starter housing and the engine block so as to get the correct spacing (indexing) of the starter bendix in reference to the flywheel. If the starter is NOT shimmed correctly, this can be your problem.
