I HAVE A 1997 CHEVY CAVALIER AND WHEN IHAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE IT MAKES A POPPING NOISE.WHAT IS CAUSING THIS?

Withouy actually hearing this noise it could be most anything. Most likely a broken, cracked or weak motor mount and or a suspension problem.

What work of ANY KIND has been performed on the vehicle prior to this poblem. ANY WORK AT ALL ?.
