Chevrolet Repair: Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 Timing chain tensioner, chevrolet cavalier z24, 1999 chevrolet cavalier z24

Question
Please Help! I recently had to replace the water pump on my 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24(2.4liter).  The water pump in my car is driven by the timing chain.  In the process the timing chain tensioner was compressed, so after my car warms up I have this loud ticking noise.  I bought a new tensioner, but on the box it says that it is packaged and shipped compressed and has to stay that way until installed.  After it is installed you are supposed to reset it, which allows the secondary piston to come out, but the box does not tell you how to reset it and the manual I have for my car doesn't say anything about how to do it either.  So my question is how do I reset the timing chain tensioner so that I can stop the annoying loud ticking noise?

Thanks
Liz
