Chevrolet Repair: Reverse Switch problem, haynes manual, switch problem

Question
Hi Van,

I purchased a used 1989 Chevy Scottsdale 4X4 and it works great, however, the reverse lights seem to have quit functioning. I've noticed that every once in a while they will either come on or flash for a second or two when putting it into reverse. Could it be the reverse switch? If so, where would I find it to get it replaced?

Thanks and regards,
John

Answer
Hi John,
It is mounted on the top of the steering column, above the brake pedal. It is adjustable, which I suspect is what the problem is. Especially if you ever need to wiggle the shift lever to get the starter to work.
Get hold of a Motors manual, or a Chilton, and look up the adjustment proceedure.
A Haynes manual for that truck should also have it.
