Chevrolet Repair: Ignition Cavalier 1990 Z-24 3.1, vacuum line, work transportation

Question
I cant seem to get the ignition out of my car for replacement.  The other day i was working just fine before work then as soon as i got into the driveway the ignition switch where the key is placed i could not turn it to the off position... i then left the car running for about 5 minutes came back out and it turned off..  immediatly after that happend the car would not turn over anymore and its still sitting there leaveing me without work transportation...  If you can help me with this i would appreciate it .. thanks

Jon

Answer
Does the KEY turn in the start position or is it stuck in the OFF position ?.

What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as a vacuum line may have been knocked loose or a wire connection came loose, Look around in the area where work was performed..
