Chevrolet Repair: Anti-freeze leak, head gasket, engine oil

Sir,
I own a 2003 pontiac 3400 grand am.I have a small leak between the intake and head.(gasket).
Maybe one inch of anti-freeze in a year. other than paying the $900 to have the gasket replaced, is there any additive I could try first before paying that kind of money? Thanks so much for your help.

All these additives do is get HARD and seal the small leak but it is NOT permanent. It could fail in a month or two or last for years. It's a GAMBLE I would NOT want to take . If this leak gets anti-freeze into the engine oil, It's good bye engine.

Do the job RIGHT and have it replaced.
