Chevrolet Repair: electrical charging problem, chevy lumina apv, lumina apv

Question
12746.1

I have a 1993 chevy lumina apv 3.1

my problem is the alternator was was not charging , I went to Autozone and had both batt. and alt. check  the Batt. Tested  Good The alt. Fail

So I put a new Alt on and went to autozone to make sure it was ok everything was good but  I had the same problem dead batt. so I got a jump start

and went to Autozone again alternator was not charging so they replace the alt. and before I had it check out I put my meter and at first got a reading of 14.5 but with a short time 13.5 then 12.5  11.00 but I also notice that the temp needle was at H [over heat] the fan was working it didn't look or feel like it was over heated

but I was about to replace the thermostat so I left it

odd part when I started the vehicle cold the temp needle was at H  I ran it for maybe 2-5 min shut it off check the radiator it was full, restarted the vehicle notice the needle was in C [cold] so check the batt. and the reading was 14.5

to make this short everytime the temp needle is on H the alternator stop charging   and when it goes to normal temp reading it start charging and this happens even while drive  so the temp gauge let me know when the alternator is not charging and when it's charging the reading start at 14.5 within a few min. it start dropping to 12.5

So what can cause this  and what do I look for to repair it the Batt is about 6-8 month old I had it test and it was good both temp sensor and relay were replace a few month back when the vehicle fan would not turn on.  turn out to be ground wire to the ecm

Answer
This is one that I have yet to come across. I would suspect that you have a problem with a connection within the dash electrical connections and or a ground failure at the dash cluster itself.

What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as a wire connection came loose, Look around in the area where work was performed.
