Answer
I have seen this a couple of times and if memory serves FIND and fix your coolant leak FIRST.

I also believe that there was a factory recall on these distributors.

It has been quite awhile since I had the last one and if memory serves the coolant leak was causing engine coolant to be picked up by the cooling fan and lightly sprayed onto the engine and onto the distributor cap and this would cause a condensation buildup within the cap.

Also make SURE that your PCV ventilation system is operating correctly.

I am trying to remember exactly what the recall was and I THINK it was due to oil fumes being drawn up into the distributor due to normal rotation of the distributor shaft and the bushing inside the dist housing did not have a close enough fit to prevent the oil and fumes from being drawn up into the distributor.

You said you replaced 3 distributors, Were they new distributors or ones from the junk yard or were any a different brand ?.

I will look thru my chevy bulletins and see if I can locate anything on this subject.

FIND and FIX that coolant leak FIRST.
