Chevrolet Repair: 1985 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, transfer case, blazer

Question
The transmission in my blazer was making a grinding sound going up hills and had very little power so I had a trans filter and fluid change done now the grinding sound is gone but it feels like it is slipping and still have very little power going up hills.  What could the problem be and do you have any idea how costly it might be?  Could the bands need to be tightend up?  It is a 1985 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. 4x4.  2.8 v6 motor.  It does have overdrive.

Answer
Hi Amy,
It would sure be nice to see, or know what all was in the pan when it was removed.
Usually if there is grinding sound, and it is really coming from inside the transmission, a replacement transmission, or serious overhaul isn't far away.
The transfer case is another possible cause of grinding.

I have no idea on cost without knowing more accurately what the problem is, or your access to competent mechanical help.
