Chevrolet Repair: Fuel Filter on 1998 Cavalier, fuel filter, fuel line

Question
Hi Mark,
I'm trying to change a fuel filter on a '98 Cavalier. The manual I got says to squeeze the white tabs on the quick-disconnect side of the filter and the filter should come off.
My problem is, I got a black plastic collar on the end of the fuel line...but there are no white tabs sticking out of this collar. I don't know if they cracked off. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the filter off?
   Thanks in advance       Bob

Answer
Hello Bob, Depending on where you live this could be a problem to replace. If you live where the snow and salt is this might be a problem. If not then it should come right off. That black plastic collar needs to get pushed into the fitting, this is the part that releases the locks. You push in the collar and then pull the line off with the collar pushed in.

Let me know how you make out

Mark
