Chevrolet Repair: 1991 chevy blazer, fuel pressure regulator, chevy blazer

Question
I have a 1991 chevy s-10 blazer 4x4 4.3L. I was told that i have to replace the CPI injector. I have recentley found out that it is TBI Is it the same thing or do i have to do something different now. I have had to change the oil 3 times in 2 months cause it keeps thinning with gas.

Answer
Hi Brent,
If you are sure it is TBI, that unit can be repaired.
Probably just a gasket or O ring.
But I am surprised it even runs. The fuel needs to go past some rings as a liquid in order to get into the oil, so at least one cylinder must be missing completely.
In a throttle body, there are only two injectors, and each feeds half of the cylinders, so it seems like it would be smoking and running terribly if either injector were bad.
So that would seem to point to a cylinder not firing at all, and all the fuel for that cyl staying liquid, and washing past.
Have you pulled the plugs and checked their condition?

The fuel pressure regulator, if leaking, could suck gas into the intake, but flooding and black smoke should be present.
