Chevrolet Repair: EGR, oldsmobile regency 98, oldsmobile regency

Question
I own a 1990 Oldsmobile regency 98(3.8L) It has very little power and chugs when you try to accelerate. I have replaced the oxygen sensor. I noticed that the egr valve was melted and burned. Could this be causing my problems? I think that there is 2 fuse panels in my car but I can only find one. In the one panel it says that there is another one in the sound resistant wall or something. I have no clue where to look. An info at all would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Yes a non-functioning EGR will cause your problem as would the CAUSE is of what caused the EGR system to MELT.

I would run an exhaust back pressure test on the vehicle to make sure you do NOT have an exhaust restriction such as a plugged catalytic converter.
