I'm wondering what code reader/programer I should get for my 92 Chevy. I'm looking for something under 500 but that I can plug in to check for problem codes and to tune the truck. What should I be looking for and what should I stay away from and any suggestions on what diagnostic tool I should get. Thanks

The TYPE of scanner that you would purchase depends upon your automotive experience in performing the complex diagnostic procedures for the CODES that will eventually display when a problem occurs and then you will need the technical service manuals to tell you what the code(s) mean and the equipment and experience to perform the tests.
