Chevrolet Repair: Chevy Corsica locked in park 1988, chevy corsica, chevytalk

Question
Van,

My son has a Chevy Corsica 1988 i think (maybe older) which appears to be  locked in park.

He says that it was hard to push the button on the shift lever for a couple of days, and now he can't at all. Seems as though it's a mechanical jam/twist/bend in the linkage, but maybe a park lock solenoid?

Is there a way to get into the shift lever to either lube it or work out a kink?

If not is there a way to manually pull the prk lock pin at the transmission itself? If so where would it be?

I looked for this in the previous questions area, but althought ere are a bunch of Corsica mentions, none helped.

Thanks a bunch.

Answer
Hello Put,
I haven't worked on a Corsica, but look in the owners manual. They almost always show you how to overide that shift lock if needed.
And go to the following site, and do a search. You can even ask the question, and it will be seen by hundreds of Corsica owners and mechanics, and you will get some answers.
To ask, you will need to register and log in, but it is totally free, and you will love that site.
