Chevrolet Repair: turn light signal switch replacement, chevy silverado, column covers

Please I am about to attempt changing out my signal light switch, its on a 2000 chevy silverado 1500 4X4, can I do this without removing tha steering wheel...? I ordered the replacement will be here in a few days I have really tried to take anything apart yet...info will be very much apperciated, thanks

Hello Randy, You need to remove both the upper and lower column covers and the panel under the column. There is one screw on top and one on the side. To get to the one on the side turn the steering wheel until you can get your torx bit on it. The rest is not a problem as you will see.
