Chevrolet Repair: 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD 8.1L crank sensor, gmc sierra, penetrating oil

Question
I have an 8.1L in my pickup. I am experiencing problems with my engine shutting off intermittently. It usually fires right back up. I have read some Q&A on this symptom and am leaning towards the crank position sensor. I have located the sensor but from what I have read it is not easily replaced. Any advice? If the old one must be broken in half to remove it, how do I install the new one?

Thanks for your time,

Answer
YOu need to remove the fuel line nut at the bell housing.
remove the drivers side coil bolts and reposition coil.
Un plug sensor and let soak with penetrating oil.
Twist and rock a few times and pull out.
These are gm instructions.  You do not have to break in half.
