Chevrolet Repair: wipers, windshield wipers, wiper motor

I have a 1998 cavalier. Lately when you turn on the windshield wipers it takes about 5 minutes for them to come on. Then they will only work in Lo after another 5 minutes or so they will work in all speeds until you change wiper speed then they stop working. I would like to know if this sounds like a wiper motor problem or the switch or something else.? Thank you.

Without performing the diagnostic tests on the wiper control switch and on the wiper motor, You have a 50/50 chance of replacing one or the other and being right.

There have been numerous problems with a faulty ground from the wiper motor to the firewall mounting as the bolts tend to rust thus causing a loss of ground.

Try removing each bolt ONE AT A TIME and cleaning it and re-installing it and see if your problem is resolved.
