Chevrolet Repair: Rear window glass and tailgate lock repair, door latch, salvage yard

Hi Van,

I have an 87 S-10 Blazer with a broken glass/gate lock.  How do I release the gate latches? (The inner works and lock are missing)
Is there any way to pry the gate open?

Hi Steve,
I would probably run by a dealership body shop and ask them.
It is a latch similar to a door latch, and a slim jim would probably work on it, but knowing where and which direction to pull would be just a guess without seeing one open.
A trip to a salvage yard could help come up with that information if they happened to have one you could look in.
