Chevrolet Repair: Chevy, jumper wire, standerd

Question
I have a 1991 Chevy stepside. I was driving it the other day and parked for a while and when I went to start it..nothing but a click. We bomb started it and got it home. I replaced the starter and solenoid and still nothing. There is a click when the ignition si turned but thats it. Any suggestions? She is my baby and i want to drive my BIG truck for the summer! Thanks!

Answer
Hi Barb... check the cable going from the battery to the starter, clean connections at both ends. also check that when you installed the new starter you put the trigger wire on the right lead on the solonid...trigger wire should go on the post closest to the engine when the starter is installed in it's place. also check the clutch lock out switch...because you bump started it i assume you have a standerd in that truck...if in doubt of the clutch switch you can put a jumper wire across the plug in and that will by pass the switch...make sure your grounds are good and clean at the battery and engine and frame...if not take apart and clean...sounds to me like you have a bad connection in one of the above places i have suggested...hope this helps
