Chevrolet Repair: 2000 Astro Van just purchased, chevy astro van, chevy astro

Question
We purchased a 2000 Chevy Astro Van LS (60,000 miles)yesterday from a fairly "reputable" dealer.  The test drive was good and everything seemed to be working.  As we were filling out the paperwork they took the van to be cleaned.  As soon as we were leaving we noticed the radio had "LOC" on the display and we couldn't get it to work (it was working perfectly when test driven).  We returned to the dealer and the salesman said they "disconnected the battery" and we'd have to bring it back to reprogram.  We also realized there wasn't a book for this van in the glove box nor did we receive remotes for locking/unlocking.   As we drove it later in the day, a distinct noise occured when turning the steering wheel a hard left or right (not just going around a bend, but actually turning).  This was not noticed during the test drive.   Also, the back top hatch opens, but doors will not open and once again...they worked FINE at the dealership.   We are taking it in to them on Monday, could you please help direct us with the correct questions to get these problems resolved.   Also, how important is it to have the remote locks for this vehicle.   Thank you in advance.  John and Dianne

Answer
Every dealership will address your problems differently and there is no way to tell you HOW they will adddress your concerns.

As far as the remote locks, The system may NOT have been installed by the manufacturer, But were installed by the previous owner and the system may have been disconnected by the original owner and or it may not have worked for a long time and it never got repaired. Since you did NOT get the remotes, I would probably say that the system was installed by the previous owner and were not given to the dealer during the trade in.

I would take this up with the dealer.
