Chevrolet Repair: universal joint replacement, chevy tahoe, universal joint

Question
i have a 99 chevy tahoe 4x4 2 door. i'm haveing trouble with removeing the front universal on the driveshaft. i have removed the rear universal, but he front seems to have a different type of clamp holding the caps in place. how do i get this joint out so i can put the new one in and get my truck running?

Answer
Hello George,
They used some plastic forced into holes in the yoke that filled grooves in the cap, and inside the yoke to hold the caps in place.
The plastic needs to be broken out by pressing, or however you get yours out.
Clean it all out, and then use the regular "C" clips that come with the new joints.
