Chevrolet Repair: coolant temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor, temperature gauge

Question
I just acquired a '94 S-10 Blazer 4x4 with 126,000 miles.  The temperature gauge on the dash does not move when the engine heats up.  This vehicle has the 4.3L CPI V6 with four-speed automatic.  Where on the engine is the coolant temperature sensor?  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Dan,
Lets not confuse the temp sensor with a temp sender.
If you have gauges, then you should have both a sensor, which uses two wires and sends engine temp info to the computer, as well as a sender, which only uses one wire, unless it has ELECTRONIC gauges, and works with the gauge.
The SENSOR, on the V6 is located on the front of the intake manifold. Note...it will have a egg shaped connector and two wires.
You are looking for the SENDER, which I am relatively sure is in the left head, near the #1 spark plug, but I am not certain.
If there is just one wire, unhook it from the sender, and when it is held against ground, the gauge should go to one end, and to the other when unhooked.
