Chevrolet Repair: fuel pump, fuel pump relay, tank unit

Question
1992 Chev. Suburban 4x4 350 eng. Starting with no fuel to carb. I checked fuel filter, After removing filter and turning over engine,I got no fuel from fuel line? I've checked fuel pump fuse under hood ,was good. replaced fuel pump relay.
Still i am not getting fuel to pump through line when engine is turning over? Is it time to replace the fuel pump? Is there other items or ways to check? if i need to replase is there a web site that will explain replacement procedure?

Answer
Hello Steve,
No web site exactly for that, but I will give you a link for a forum where you can search and will find a lot of info about that, and if you join,(FREE), you can even ask a question and you will get plenty of responses.

As for if I think it is time to replace it...very possible, but I would check just a couple more things first, although it sounds like you are doing everything pretty well so far.

I would go back and find the connector at the tank, and check for power. The gauge sender goes through the same connector, so be sure you are checking the larger wire, and should have battery voltage for about three seconds after the key is turned to run.
Wiggle that connector, and make sure it makes good connection.

There is a black wire in that connection that bolts to the frame near there somewhere. make sure it is clean and tight.

As someone turns the key to run, you can smack the tank with your hand and possibly jar the pump into working, but even if that makes it run, you will soon need to get in there to replace the pump.

But, if you have a good ground back there, and you get the battery voltage, and the pump doesn't run...it is time to drop the tank and replace the pump.
While doing that, make sure the tank is good and clean inside, and make sure the connections inside on the tank unit are not loose.

Good luck,
Van
