Chevrolet Repair: guess what?, intermittent problems, fuel tank

when i went to drop the tank (i thought was 3/4 full) it was empty. i ran out of gas. went with a new pump anyway, filter etc, but one scary thing was apparent arc blackening on one of the pump's connector terminals. ever see anything like that?

Hi Joe,
It amazes my that they put those push on electric connectors inside the fuel tank, but I guess there isn't enough oxygen in there to support combustion???
I sure like to make them tight though.
The rivets that connect the inside wires through the top to the connector I have seen loose also, and cause intermittent problems with the pump.
