Chevrolet Repair: camaro window motor, drive cable, cold weather

Question
First off Happy Holidays. Now the problem, I have a '98 Camaro and I live in Chicago. Lately we have been having temperatures in the morning that are below 30 and when I try to open my driver's side window to show my I.D. the window doesn't want to open, but later on (lunchtime) I will be able to open it but sometimes it will pop when it is most of the way down. The passenger side one will open a little bit in the morning but I have always had a problem with that one being slow. Do I need to replace the driver's side one or is it normal for them to, basically, freeze in colder weather? Thank you for your time and sorry if I rambled a little. If you need more info please email me at millerwj@hotmail.com.

Answer
You stated: " Do I need to replace the driver's side one.

Question: One WHAT ?.

You have a couple of possibilities:

1. The window channel guides need to be sprayed with a non-freezing type of lubricant available at any auto parts store.

2. The window motors are getting WEAK.

3. I think GM still uses the PLASTIC tape drive cable system to lower and raise the windows and this TAPE wers out very quickly, Especially in COLD weather and either needs to be lubricated with the same as above or the tape needs to be replaced.
